Bridgeport Islanders News Release
Northford, Conn. - The Hartford Wolf Pack defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers tonight by the score of 7-0 at the Northford Ice Pavilion in the second of the Sound Tigers' four preseason games. Martin Houle turned aside all 24 shots to earn the shutout and Artem Anisimov record a hat-trick to lead the Wolf Pack to victory.
Tommy Pyatt opened the scoring at 5:50 of the first period with his second goal of Hartford's exhibition schedule with Jared Nightingale and Mike Taylor assisting. Six minutes later, the Wolf Pack would double their lead when Pyatt returned the favor and set up Taylor's first goal of the preseason. Dale Weise also picked up a helper on the tally. Just over a minute later, Anisimov would snap his first goal of the game over the glove of Sound Tigers' starting goalie, A.J. Bucchino giving the Wolf Pack a 3-0 lead heading into the second period. Pierre Parenteau and Tysen Dowzak assisted on the Anisimov's marker.
Anisimov waster little time in the middle frame, as he scored his second goal of the night, while on the power-play, only 34 seconds into the period. Bobby Sanguinetti and Ethan Graham picked up the assists on the goal. Anisimov would complete his hat-trick with just under five minutes to play in the period, once again Sanguinetti and Graham were credited with the assists.
Hartford would tack on two more tallies off the sticks of Weise and Justin Soryal to beat the Sound Tigers in front of a packed arena at the Northford Ice Pavilion, 7-0.
The Sound Tigers were shutout, firing 24 shots on Houle while Bucchino turned aside 15 of the 20 shots he faced and Michael Mole, who replaced Bucchino at the start of the third period, stopped 10 of 12 shots. Hartford scored twice on the man-advantage, going 2-for-8 in the game and 7-for-7 on the penalty-kill.
Tomorrow night, the Sound Tigers are back in action as they take on the Lowell Devils at their official practice facility, The Rinks at Shelton. Face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. There is a pre-game barbeque for all fans in attendance, hosted outside the front entrance of the arena. Members of the Islanders' I.C.E. Tour will attend as well as skaters from the 2008-09 Ice Girls. Tickets are on sale at The Rinks at Shelton front office.
