Canucks send FitzGerald to Moose

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced today they have assigned defenceman Zach FitzGerald to the Moose.

FitzGerald, 23, appeared in 48 games in his first season with the Moose in 2007-08. In that time, he scored five goals and three assists for eight points and collected 158 penalty minutes to finish second on the team in that category. He also played in his first-ever NHL game last season with Vancouver on Feb. 5/08 at Dallas. In 90 career AHL games over three seasons with Peoria and Manitoba, the Two Harbors, MN native scored six goals and six assists for 12 points and 291 penalty minutes.

FitzGerald was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues with their third choice, 88th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
