Rivermen lose goalie, receive defenseman

Peoria, IL (November 11, 2005) - St. Louis Blues Senior Vice-president and General Manager Larry Pleau today announced the club has recalled goaltender Curtis Sanford from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen, and assigned defenseman Jeff Woywitka to Peoria.

Sanford, 26, leads the Rivermen with a 1.84 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage in six games this season while owning a 4-2-0 record with two shutouts. His goals-against average is fourth-best in the AHL, and he is tied for seventh in save percentage and tied for second in shutouts.

Woywitka, 22, made his National Hockey League debut for St. Louis on October 6 versus Detroit and has played in nine games for the Blues this season. He appeared in two games for the Rivermen back on October 14 and 15, registering 15 minutes in penalties and two shots on goal.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
