Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON - The Binghamton Senators will exchange their hockey sticks for paint brushes on Monday, Nov. 14 during a unique fundraiser that will give the players a chance to demonstrate their artistic capabilities while raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York. For a third consecutive year, the players will gather at The Clay Ground in Vestal to decorate white bisque plates that will be auctioned for charity during three upcoming B-Sens home games.

Beginning with the Senators' game against Toronto on Nov. 18, fans will be able to place bids on the plates during an ongoing silent auction that will conclude when Wilkes-Barre/Scranton visits town on Saturday, Nov. 26. The Clay Ground will once again donate the plates and brightly colored paints. Last season, the plate auction raised $3,946 for Make-A-Wish.

Plates raising the most money last year were designed by former winger Arpad Mihaly ($500) and current team captain Denis Hamel whose design brought in more than $300.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has been granting the wishes of children with life-threatening diseases since the organization was founded in 1980. The foundation has granted the wishes of more than 144,000 children across the world.

While the event is not open to the public, the media are welcome to attend. The painting will begin at 1 p.m. The Clay Ground is located at 736 Vestal Parkway East next to JoAnn's Fabrics.

Tickets are on sale for all remaining Binghamton Senators home contests. Call (607) 722-SENS for ticket information.
