Rivermen Call On Kana and Imbeault

Peoria, Ill. (November 21, 2008) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today the club has recalled forward Tomas Kana from the Rivermen ECHL affiliate, the Alaska Aces. In addition they have signed center Alexandre Imbeault to a professional try-out contract.

Kana, 20, has played in nine games with Aces this season, registering seven points (two goals, five assists) along with seven penalty minutes. The 6-0, 202-pound winger began the year with the Rivermen and appeared in five games, totaling two penalty minutes. The Opava, Czech Republic native was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the second round, 31st overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Imbeault, 22, has recorded 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 14 games with the Aces. Last season, as a rookie, he led the Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL) with 26 goals in only 56 games. He was named to the American Conference all-star team but did not participate as a result of being on loan to the Providence Bruins. In 12 games with the Bruins, he registered seven points (three goals, four assists).

Both Kana and Imbeault are expected to be in the lineup tonight as the Rivermen head to Rockford for a rematch with the IceHogs. Peoria fell 4-1 on Sunday to the 'Hogs and the two teams have split the first two meetings of the season, with the home team winning each time. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. from the MetroCentre and the game will be broadcast live on Hippie Radio 101.1FM, and online at www.rivermen.net.
