RHP Steve Smith Rejoins Isotopes

In addition to the Isotopes earlier transactions, right-handed pitcher Steve Smith rejoined Albuquerque this afternoon, and in a corresponding move, right-hander Stephen Fife has been placed on the disabled list with right forearm stiffness
Smith was placed on the disabled list on June 11 with an ingrown toenail. He's appeared in 20 games, starting six, with a 2-4 record and 7.42 ERA. The former University of New Mexico Lobo has struck out 36 batters in 61.0 innings pitched against only 22 walks.
Fife left Friday night's start after only 3.2 innings pitched with an apparent injury before being placed on the disabled list today. In 11 games, nine starts, he is 2-2 with a 7.01 ERA.
The Isotopes will play game three of a four-game series against the Sacramento River Cats tonight at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Red Patterson (3-7, 5.15 ERA) is slated to take the hill for Albuquerque, while Sacramento will go with lefty Tommy Milone (0-0, 2.25 ERA).
