Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Bees and 51's combined for four home runs as Las Vegas came away victorious 7-6 Friday night at Smith's Ballpark. Anthony Seratelli hit the first home run of the game in the sixth inning, a three run shot in a four-run fourth to put the 51s ahead 4-1. Brennan Boesch answered with his 13th home run of the season, a two-run bomb off of Cory Mazzoni. Josh Satin and Daniel Muno finished off the scoring for the 51s with solo home runs in the seventh and ninth innings respectively. The Bees scored one run in the ninth to close the gap to a single run, when Tony Campana scored off of J.B. Shuck's single which turned into a three base hit on Andrew Brown's error. Shuck was stranded 90 feet away from tying the game when Luis Jimenez popped up to end the game. Campana, Jimenez and Hester each chipped in two hits for the Bees.
"Our guys battled hard and played hard," said Manager Keith Johnson. "They are the highest scoring team in the league for a reason and they beat us tonight."
Salt Lake starter Jarrett Grube (6-5) was handed the loss after putting in 6.0 innings allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out three. Cory Mazzoni (1-0) picked up a victory in his Triple-A debut giving up five hits and three runs in 5.2 innings pitched.
Saturday Night's Bees game will be broadcast live on KJZZ TV. Tickets and additional information can be found at slbees.com or at Smith's Ballpark box office.
