Sacramento River Cats News Release

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - PCL All Star Shane Peterson collected his third-straight multi-hit game going 2-for-4 with a run, two RBI, and a double, but the River Cats lost to the Albuquerque Isotopes by a score of 8-7 on Saturday night at Isotopes Park.

The Topes got the scoring started early, plating one in the bottom of the first when Clint Robinson drove in a rehabbing Chone Figgins with a single to right field off of River Cats starter Tommy Milone. Albuquerque extended their lead to 4-1 in the third before the River Cats scored three times in the top of the fourth on an RBI double from Peterson, a sacrifice fly from Josh Whitaker, and a wild pitch by Topes starter Red Patterson.

Albuquerque scored twice in the fourth and once in the fifth to make the score 7-3 after five, but the River Cats made things interesting with a four-run seventh. Daric Barton led off the frame with a solo home run to right field, followed by a Jose Martinez walk, an Alden Carrithers single, and a Luis Exposito single, loading the bases for Kenny Wilson. Wilson grounded into a double play, plating Martinez, and Jake Elmore brought Carrithers around to score on a fielder's choice before Peterson singled-home Buss to tie the game at seven.

Unfortunately for the River Cats, Carlos Triunfel hit a solo bomb in the bottom of the eighth inning off of lefty Joe Savery, giving his team an 8-7 lead it would not relinquish.

Exposito went 2-for-4, while Barton finished 1-for-3 with a run, an RBI, and his third homer of the season. Milone took a no-decision, giving up eight hits, seven runs-six earned-and four walks with three strikeouts in five innings of work. Savery took the loss, giving up one run in one inning of work with two strikeouts.

The win was charged to Josh Ravin, who gave up two hits and a run, and also picked up the blown save. Patterson received a no-decision, giving up six earned runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings of work, while closer Pedro Baez picked up his fourth save.

Sacramento's Opening Day starter Arnold Lon (9-3, 4.47 ERA) will take on Isotopes righty Carlos Frias (6-4, 4.65 ERA) at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday evening at Isotopes Park as the River Cats look to salvage a series split in Albuquerque.

The River Cats return to Raley Field on July 29 when the team opens an eight-game set that features four games against the Isotopes and the Las Vegas 51s.
