Reign Pull Through 3-2 over Eagles in OT

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Colorado Eagles (20-10-5-2) fell, 3-2, in overtime to the Ontario Reign (26-6-2-3) at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Saturday night. The Eagles picked up four out of six points in the three-game road trip this week.

Colorado forward Luke Fulghum found the back of the net from between the hashes, on a power play, to get the Eagles on the board first, 1-0, 7:46 into the first frame.

Just 6:53 into the second period Reign forward Brett Beebe deflected a shot between the legs of Colorado goalie Marc Cheverie to tie the game, 1-1.

Eagles forward Greg Gardner reclaimed a 2-1 lead for the Eagles with a backhand shot, beating Ontario netminder Jussi Olkinuora 3:43 into the final stanza. Ontario defenseman Matt Register tied the game 2-2, beating Cheviere upstairs 6:41 into the third.

Ontario and the Eagles headed into the 4-on-4 sudden death overtime with the score tied at two. Less than two minutes into overtime Reign forward Everett Sheen took a backhanded shot from the slot to win the contest for Ontario, 3-2.

The Eagles face off with the Alaska Aces at the Budweiser Events Center on Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25.
