TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (25-6-2-3) look to even the series with a win over conference rival Colorado Eagles (20-10-4-2) who took the first game of this weekend series, 5-4 in overtime. The overtime loss was the first seen by the Reign from a Western Conference opponent; their only other overtime defeat came from the Florida Everblades in their October tour.
It was no surprise that these two teams went past regulation time, as they have combined for 22 overtime appearances this season - one overtime decider was against each other on November 30, 2013, which the Reign won 3-2.
EVENLY MATCHED:
These two teams have proven to be a fair fight as all three games have been decided by just one goal with two of the three ending in overtime. The Reign have barely outscored the Eagles by 11-10 so far in their season series. The teams' power-play units differ by a .3 percent favor of Ontario. The Reign have a slightly larger advantage on the penalty kill with an 85.5 percent success rate, to the Eagles' 80.7 percent penalty kill rating.
DIVISION FACEOFF:
The Reign lead the Pacific Division, the Eagles rank second in the Mountain Division and are first and third, respectively, in the Western Conference. Colorado is 14-4-3-2 against Pacific Division teams and 5-4-1-0 against Mountain Division teams. Ontario has dominated their division with an 18-4-0-0 record against Pacific Division teams and a 7-2-1-2 record against Mountain Division teams.
RED CROSS JERSEY NIGHT:
This evening the Reign will be skating in unique colors as they are wearing specialty jerseys for the American Red Cross Inland Empire Chapter. The jerseys will all be auctioned off in a live, post-game jersey auction with proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross Inland Empire Chapter. Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. native Christine Suzukawa designed the jersey which received the most votes in an online poll at ontarioreign.com.
