MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds dropped game two of a six-game series with the Norfolk Tides at AutoZone Park on Wednesday night by the final score of 13-10.

The Memphis offense showed off its power yet again on Wednesday night, blasting a season-high tying five home runs in the three-run loss. Center fielder Scott Hurst started off the power surge with his sixth home run of the year in the bottom of the third inning. Two innings later, left fielder Alec Burleson deposited his 18th homer of the season over the wall for a two-run shot.

As the Redbirds found themselves trailing 7-3 in the bottom of the sixth, the offense came even more alive. After a designated hitter Ben DeLuzio triple to plate the second and third runs of the inning, shortstop Paul DeJong hit a high arcing blast to put Memphis on top 8-7, his 17th home run of the season. An inning later, Luken Baker added some insurance with a solo homer to tie DeJong with 17 long balls.

Relief pitcher Freddy Pacheco attempted to record a save in back-to-back nights in the top of the ninth. The right-handed flame thrower allowed four runs on three hits to earn his first loss of the season.

With Memphis down 13-9 in the bottom of the ninth, right fielder Moises Gomez clubbed his Minor League Baseball leading 29th home run of the season. Gomez and DeJong have each hit a home run in three straight games.

The Memphis Redbirds (52-43) return to AutoZone Park on Thursday night against the Norfolk Tides (45-50), Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles for a scheduled 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch.
