
Bulls Cruise to Game 2 Victory over IronPigs

Durham, NC - The Durham Bulls (52-43) picked up a over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (52-43) 11-4 in game two of a six-game set on Wednesday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Lehigh Valley would strike first in the opening frame as SS Nick Maton lined an RBI single. Durham would respond in the bottom half with a three-run inning, starting with a 3B Xavier Edwards' bases-loaded walk. In the following at-bat, C Ford Proctor knocked an RBI single to put the Bulls ahead, and, in the ensuing at-bat, an RBI groundout from DH Ryan Boldt rounded out the inning stretch the Durham lead to 3-1.
The IronPigs would respond in the third, as RF Dalton Guthrie went yard on a solo shot to trim the Bulls lead to one. In the fourth, Durham's bats would come alive again, as the team put together a four-run frame, starting with a SS Vidal Brujan RBI single. CF Miles Mastrobuoni would follow with an RBI single of his own and an RBI groundout from 2B Jonathan Aranda extended the Bulls lead to 6-2. Edwards capped off the inning with another run-scoring single.
The Bulls would stay hot in the fifth as LF Grant Witherspoon connected on an RBI single. In the sixth, C Ford Proctor tattooed a three-run shot to give Durham an 11-2 lead. Eight of nine Bulls batters recorded a hit, while seven of the batters drove in at least one run.
Durham relief pitcher Chase Anderson earned the win in his Bulls debut after two innings of work, allowing no hits and ringing up one strikeout. Lehigh Valley starting pitcher Bubby Rossman picked up the loss.
The Bulls are set to continue their nine-game homestand on Thursday evening for game three of their series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm. RHP Kevin Herget (7-1, 2.23) is slated to toe the rubber for Durham and be opposed by LHP Michael Plassmeyer (2-0, 2.48) for Lehigh Valley.
