ST. PAUL, MN - The Iowa Cubs (43-50) scored four late runs to beat the St. Paul Saints (43-49) by a score of 6-2, Tuesday at CHS Field.

Narciso Crook put Iowa ahead with a solo home run in the second inning, giving Mark Leiter Jr. a run of support. Leiter Jr. would keep the lead intact, spinning three shutout innings. In his first start since July 14, the righty allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out five.

The Saints got on the board and tied the game at one in the bottom of the fifth when Tim Beckham knocked an RBI single against Javier Assad. It was the only run Assad would allow, also striking out five over his three innings of work.

After the RBI single from Beckham, the teams traded blows in each of the next three innings. Iowa scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to go up 2-1, but an RBI double from Jake Cave in the seventh tied the game at two runs apiece.

Iowa scored on a fielder's choice in the eighth to regain their lead, a lead they would keep for the remainder of the game. They added three insurance runs in the ninth to go up 6-2 and Ben Leeper used a double play and a strikeout to end the game.
