
IronPigs and Bulls Tied for First Place Again

(Durham, NC) - The Durham Bulls (52-43) defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (52-43) 11-4 on Wednesday evening to reclaim first place with Lehigh Valley. The Bulls recorded 14 hits and had seven players with at least one RBI in the game.
The IronPigs took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Nick Maton hit an RBI single against Tommy Romero. Durham answered with three runs against Bubby Rossman (0-1) in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-1 lead. Miles Mastrobuoni scored on a walk with the bases loaded and Ford Proctor hit an RBI single. The third run of the inning came on a force out as Tristan Gray scored on the play.
Dalton Guthrie smacked his sixth home run of the season in the top of the third inning against Romero to cut Durham's lead to 3-2. The Bulls answered with four runs against James Marvel in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 7-2 lead. Vidal Brujan, Xavier Edwards, and Mastrobuoni all hit RBI singles and Brujan then scored on a ground out.
Grant Witherspoon hit an RBI single against Sam Coonrod in the bottom of the eighth inning extend Durham's lead to 8-2. Proctor then hit a three-run home run against Coonrod in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Durham an 11-2 lead. Guthrie followed up with a two-run home run against Cristofer Ogando in the top of the seventh inning to put the score at 11-4.
Chase Anderson (5-3) earned the win for Durham as he pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Romero.
The IronPigs and Bulls will play again on Thursday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
