LOUISVILLE, KY - Robert Dugger tossed 6.2 scoreless innings as the Louisville Bats (40-54) defeated the Columbus Clippers (54-40) 5-1 at Louisville Slugger Field on Wednesday night.

The Bats got on the board in hurry, scoring first for the second consecutive night. With two runners on and two outs, Chuckie Robinson stepped to the plate and smacked his first career Triple-A triple, his first since 2019, to score two runs and give Louisville a 2-0 lead in the second inning.

Louisville tacked on another run in the fourth when Reds rehabber Aristides Aquino scored on a sacrifice fly by Juniel Querecuto to a 3-0 lead through four.

Columbus put up its biggest scoring threat in the top of the sixth, getting a runner to second with two outs, but the threat would come to pass with no damage done.

Robert Dugger (2-3, 4.30) turned in a fantastic start to earn his second win of the season, tossing 6.2 innings of scoreless baseball on just 73 pitches. Dugger gave up just three hits while striking out four without issuing a walk. The zero-walk effort is his first in fourteen Triple-A appearances this season.

The Bats added on two more insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth. TJ Friedl led off the inning with a single through the right side before Jose Barrero belted his eighth homerun of the year to extend the Bats lead to 5-0.

Columbus scratched a single run across in the ninth as the Bats won 5-1.

Louisville and Columbus will play three game three of the six-game series tomorrow night, with each team celebrating Hispanic and Latino heritage by donning special Copa de la Diversion team identities. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm E.T. with southpaw Justin Dunn (0-2, 5.50) taking the mound for Louisville while Columbus has not yet announced its starter.
