WHEELING,WV- The Nailers shutout streak against the Reading Royals ended 4:53 into the first period tonight at WesBanco Arena as the Nailers fell to their division rivals 3-2.

The Royals' Chris Bala scored the first goal when he collected the puck and made a strong move to the front of the net and forced a backhand through the legs of Andy Franck. It was a power-play goal.

Greg Hogeboom gave the visitors a 2-0 lead at 8:16 of the opening period. Hogeboom deflected a shot from the point past Franck for his 20th goal the season.

The first period ended with the Royals holding a two goal edge.

The Nailers finally got on the scoreboard with 3:15 remaining in the second period.

Ned Havern continued his hot streak as he took a feed from Cody Blanshan and ripped a shot over the glove of Jeff Pietrasiak. Mark Malone earned the second assist.

The second period ended with the Nailers trailing by one.

The Nailers' Tim Wallace, in his first game back from Wilkes-Barre Scranton, tied the game at 7:17 of the third.

On a two-man advantage, Wallace gathered the disc and wristed a shot past Pietrasiak from in between the circles. Jordan Cameron and Joe Jensen earned assists on the goal.

John Snowden gave the Royals a one goal lead again with just under eight minutes to go in the game.

Snowden gathered a rebound just outside Franck's crease and lifted it over the sprawling Wheeling goaltender to make it 3-2.

A late four minute high sticking penalty to Joe Jensen dug the hole even deeper and the Nailers eventually succumbed to the Royals losing 3-2.

The Nailers look to get back in the win column tomorrow night when they welcome in the Toledo Storm into WesBanco Arena for a 7:30 start.

The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a Spike mini bobble head doll courtesy of Console Energy.
