Nine Players From 2004, 2005 All-Star Games Reach NHL

PRINCETON, N.J. - The 2004 and 2005 ECHL All-Star Games had nine players who went on to play in the NHL and 62 that played in the American Hockey League. Thirty-eight players from the All-Star Game have gone on to play in the NHL, including 21 since 2002 which was the first year that players not voted to the starting lineup were those who coaches felt were prospects to move up to the American Hockey League and the National Hockey League.

Named to the 2004 All-Star Game in his second season, Alexandre Burrows made his NHL debut with Vancouver on Jan. 2, 2006 and signed a three-year contract with the Canucks in September 2006.

Selected to the All-Star Game as a rookie in 2003-04, Dan Ellis made his NHL debut with Dallas on Feb. 18, 2004 while Michael Garnett, who was named to the 2004 All-Star Game in his second year, played his first NHL game on Oct. 12, 2005 with Atlanta. Named to the All-Star Game as a rookie in 2003-04, Greg Jacina made his NHL debut with Florida on Nov. 12, 2005 and has played the last two seasons in the AHL and the NHL.

Selected to the All-Star Game as a rookie in 2004-05, Joe Tenute signed a multi-year contract with Washington in November 2005 and made his NHL debut on Feb. 7, 2006 with the Capitals. Named to the All-Star Game as a rookie in 2004-05, Martin St. Pierre made his NHL debut with the Chicago Blackhawks on Nov. 4, 2005 and has played each of the last two years in the NHL as well as being voted to the AHL All-Star Game and the AHL All-Rookie Team.

Selected as the starter but unable to play after he was called up to the AHL, Dany Sabourin has played in the NHL each of the last two seasons with Pittsburgh and Vancouver. Named as a rookie in 2004-05 to replace Sabourin, Barry Brust made his NHL debut on Nov. 30, 2006 with the Los Angeles Kings while Connor James, who was chosen to the All-Star Game as a rookie in 2004-05, played his first NHL game on Jan. 7, 2006.
