LAST GAME : The Nevada desert welcomed the Salmon Kings for their second Tuesday night spin versus the Wranglers this season. The home team got on the board first in the opening period as Joe Tallari poked a loose puck past Goaltender Bryan Bridges.

Victoria replied with a 4-on-4 goal nearing the end of the period. Kiel McLeod weaved to the Las Vegas net after winning a faceoff and backhanded his 16th goal off the season.

Two rookie defenseman gave Victoria the lead and buffer in the second and third stanzas. Seamus Young finished a Wes Goldie pass, and Matt Kelly beat Netminder Kevin Nastiuk with a slapshot from near the right boards.

3-1 Salmon Kings

LAST GAME vs Alaska: The New Year was kicked off with game three of the series at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria. Julian Talbot scored on Alaska's first powerplay of the game to quiet the crowd of 4,435.

Acrobatics by the goaltenders at each end of the ice kept the second period at the 1-0 lock.

With under eight minutes remaining in regulation the other half of the sibling duo, Joe Talbot, gave the Aces a two-goal advantage. However, the Salmon Kings tied the score in the last four and a half minutes of the game. Matt Kelly lit the lamp to close the gap, and Milan Gajic evened the score with 24 seconds left in regulation.

Issac Reichmuth kept the overtime alive saving seven Salmon Kings shots, forced Victoria into their third shootout of the season.

Gajic went five-hole for the first shootout goal, and Wes Goldie capped the winner in round four.

PLAYING THE RIGHT HAND: The Salmon Kings have played a few wild cards against the Aces this season, and are hoping to continue the effort and puck control displayed in Las Vegas...Victoria held the Wranglers to just 18 shots and put up 30 of their own...Victoria was perfect on the penalty kill...all goals were scored by right-hand shooters (McLeod, Young, Kelly)....Salmon Kings right-handed shooters have tallied 16 goals versus Alaska this season...Wes Goldie and Kiel McLeod earned 11 of those goals...Goldie and Milan Gajic posted the shootout goals in last win versus Alaska.
