
'Catters Gain Point but fall short 4-3 in shootout

Augusta, GA (January 12, 2007) The Augusta Lynx held off three unanswered goals in the second period by the Wildcatters to win in a shootout 4-3 in front of 2,762 at James Brown Arena. Texas had a 3-2 lead in the third period before Augusta's Louis Goulet tied the game up on the power play. The two teams would play a scoreless overtime and Augusta's Ryan Lang would score the lone goal in the shootout sending the Lynx to their seventh straight home win. Defenseman Steve Mullin continued the 'Catters rookie trend of scoring as he netted his first professional goal with a shot from just inside the blue line. It came at the 2:22 mark of the second period to put Texas on the board after the 'Catters gave up the first two goals of the game.
Alex Leavitt would tie the hockey game in the second for Texas getting his third goal of the season at 9:59 from Daniel Sparre. Then the Wildcatters would get their first lead of the night as Mark Rooneem netted his sixth goal of the season from Tremblay and Sparre. Augusta would rally in the third period and win their league best fifth shootout win. Texas went 0 for 8 on the power play while Augusta was 2 for 7. The Wildcatters out shot Augusta 35-22. Miroslav Kopriva made 18 saves in the loss. The 'Catters look to break their five game losing skid as they face off against Gwinnett on Saturday night.
