Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers, has announced defenseman Bryan Young has been assigned to Stockton from the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Additionally, defenseman Eric Main was placed on the seven-day injured reserve list.
Young, who is scheduled to wear jersey number 6 against the Bakersfield Condors tonight, is making his second tour of duty in Stockton after originally being assigned to the Thunder on December 15. The Ennismore, Ontario native has appeared in two games with the Thunder, collecting two penalty minutes while Stockton went 1-0-1 against Las Vegas and Long Beach.
A fifth round selection of the Oilers (146th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Young made his professional debut with Milwaukee this season, appearing in 22 games with six penalty minutes.
The 20-year old blueliner appeared in two preseason games with the Oilers in 2006-07 training camp, where Edmonton went 1-1-0 with Young in the lineup. Previously, Young spent his four-year (2002-06) junior hockey career with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League, scoring 30 points (1g-29a) in 186 career games. In 2005-06, Young helped guide Peterborough to the Ontario Hockey League's Robertson Cup league title.
Young is reunited on the Thunder roster with former Peterborough teammate Liam Reddox.
The Thunder returns to play at home tonight against the Condors at Stockton Arena, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard live on the internet (free-of-charge) and is available for viewing for a $6 "pay-per-view" charge at www.stocktonthunder.com (courtesy of B2 Networks).
The Thunder drew 228,364 fans to Stockton Arena in its inaugural season, the ECHL's best attendance mark for 2005-06.
