San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - Yanick Lehoux extended his point-scoring streak to nine games, tying a franchise record set during the team's inaugural season, as he tallied the San Antonio Rampage's lone goal in a 3-1 loss to the Houston Aeros at the AT&T Center Thursday night.

Lehoux's eleventh goal of the season ties former Rampage Ryan Jardine's mark set back during Mar. 20-Apr. 6, 2003. Jardine tallied 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in the nine-game streak. In Lehoux's current streak, he now has six goals and six assists for 12 points.

The Rampage, now 9-17-0-0, have outshot their opponent for the third consecutive game with 42 shots to the Aeros' 31.

Right wing Mattias Weinhandl scored the Aeros' first goal at the 6:38 mark into the opening period marking his first AHL goal of the season on the man advantage with assists from Peter Olvecky and Peter Ratchuk. Weindhandl played his first AHL game with the Aeros since joining the team on December 9th from their NHL affiliate Minnesota Wild.

Rookie Ryan Hamilton recorded the Aeros' second goal seven minutes later to extend their lead 2-0 with a hard slap shot over Josh Tordjman's right pad. Ben Thomson was credited with the assist on Hamilton's fourth goal of the season.

With about three minutes left in the first stanza Lehoux, the Rampage's leading scorer, caught a deflected Don MacLean shot off of Josh Harding and swung around to the right post for a hard shot that hit the back of the net to cut the deficit in half.

After a scoreless second period Aeros' leading scorer, Matt Foy, teamed up with Thomson and Shawn Belle with five minutes left in regulation for a top-shelf goal to assure Houston the win.

The Rampage play the Manitoba Moose tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center and host their second of three Guy's Night Out.
