A big thank you goes out to all fans who tossed teddy bears onto the ice, following the Bears first goal of game against the Norfolk Admirals this past Sunday. Following a scoreless first period, fans were getting anxious to launch their bears. Soon enough, Alexandre Giroux scored a short-handed goal at 12:01 of the second period. Immediately, the ice became a sea of teddy bears. Due to the overwhelming number of bears that were donated, the total couldn't be announced during the game. There was an estimated 4,190 bears tossed onto the ice, which will all be donated to charity. Many of these stuffed animals will be delivered to Penn State University Children's Hospital through the Children's Miracle Network. Throughout the year, they'll be given to kids who are patients in the Hospital to help comfort them through some scary and hard times.
On Sunday, December 17 the 1st annual Cops for KOPS hockey game will take place at Hersheypark Arena. Watch officers from the eastern part of the state take on officers from the western part of Pennsylvania. All proceeds from the event will benefit the children left behind by officers killed in the lie of duty. Tickets are $10 and are on sale now during the Bears games outside section 121 or by calling 717-534-2200. Time is running out so get your tickets now.
On December 20 versus the Albany River Rats the Hershey Bears will be achieving a tremendous milestone-they will be playing the 5,000th game in Hershey Bears history. Join us at Giant Center on December 23 versus the Philadelphia Phantoms to be part of the 5,000 game celebration, all fans in attendance will receive a limited edition, commemorative 5,000th game bronze coin and 10 lucky fans that night will win $500 each, courtesy of Community Banks.
