Sekera returns to Rochester

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the Buffalo Sabres have sent defenseman Andrej Sekera back to the Amerks. Forward Drew Stafford also returned to the team and skated this morning in Rochester.

Sekera returns after the first recall of his professional career. The rookie played in two games with the Sabres and made his National Hockey League debut on December 9th at Montreal. He played 6:10 and recorded two penalty minutes.

With Rochester, he has five assists in 11 games. He notched three assists in his last two games. The Bojnice, Slovakia, native was the Buffalo Sabres' third-round selection (71st overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Stafford rejoined the team today after being returned on loan on Wednesday. Stafford played in Buffalo's 3-2 win over New Jersey Tuesday night.

The Sabres had recalled Stafford on December 12th, three days after his fourth multi-point game of the season for the Amerks. Stafford netted two goals in the Amerks' 6-3 win over Hamilton on December 9th.

He has eight goals and five assists in 15 games with the Amerks this season. The former Buffalo first-round pick also has two goals and three assists in 14 games for the Sabres this season.
