PORTLAND, ME - The Portland Pirates announced today the team will host a "Coats for Kids Night" at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Friday, December 15th when the Pirates face the Manchester Monarchs at 7:05 p.m. The event is part of the WCSH NewsCenter, WLBZ NewsCenter 2 and the Salvation Army's Coats for Kids program, which provides coats for Maine's children during the Holidays.

Last year, more than 45,000 coats were collected by the program. This year, starting with the Coats for Kids day on December 2nd, which netted 7,000 coats at local Shaw's and Hannaford Supermarkets, WCSH, Shaw's and Pratt-Abbott have collected over 12,300 coats as part of the program.

"This is a terrific opportunity for us to encourage our loyal and community-minded fans to donate to a great cause. WCSH 6, Shaw's, Hannaford and Pratt-Abbott are doing a terrific job collecting coats for the campaign during this holiday season and we're glad to be participating in this effort," said Pirates Managing Owner/CEO Brian Petrovek.

Donations of new or gently used children's coats will be collected at the Portland Pirates game on Friday, December 15th in the main lobby at the Cumberland County Civic Center beginning at 5:00pm. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used coat, hats or mittens to the game. Each fan that donates an item will receive a free pair of Pirates tickets to an upcoming regular season home game.
