Admirals Re-Assign D Mitch Maunu to Toledo Storm

NORFOLK, VA - The Norfolk Admirals have re-assigned defenseman Mitch Maunu to their ECHL Affiliate the Toledo Storm, Admirals General Manager Al MacIsaac announced today.

Maunu, 20, is a 6'1", 214 lb. defenseman from Thunder Bay, Ontario in his first professional season. He was recalled from Toledo on November 23 and appeared in six games for the Admirals during this call up with no points and six penalty minutes. He has played in a total of nine games for Norfolk this season going scoreless with eight penalty minutes.

Maunu has skated in ten contests with the Storm this season, recording two assists and 22 penalty minutes. He registered his first pro point on November 11 at Johnstown with an assist.

Maunu was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the fourth round (120th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He signed an AHL Standard Player's Contract with the Admirals last August.

The Admirals will head to Binghamton to start the second half of their six-game road trip on Friday. They play the Senators at 7:05 p.m., and then visit Springfield at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday and Bridgeport at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
