Canucks Re-Assign Edler and Goren; Moose Release David

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced they have re-assigned defenceman Alex Edler and forward Lee Goren to the Moose. As a result, the Moose released defenceman J. F. David from his PTO.

Edler, 20, has played in 12 games so far in his rookie season with the Canucks where he scored his first NHL goal on Nov. 30/06 vs. Anaheim and collected his first NHL assist on Nov. 6/06 vs. Dallas. He also has four penalty minutes with Vancouver. In 13 games so far this year with the Moose, the native of Ostersund, SWE has four assists and six penalty minutes.

Goren, 29, made his first appearance with the Canucks this season on Dec. 9/06 at Calgary and played in two games. The Winnipeg, MB native has now appeared in 67 NHL games in his seven-year pro career with Boston, Florida, and Vancouver. In that time, he has five goals and four assists for nine points and 44 penalty minutes. So far this year, Goren has appeared in 21 games with the Moose where he's scored six goals and 16 assists for 22 points and 27 penalty minutes. In 142 career games in two and a half seasons with Manitoba, Goren has 60 goals and 65 assists for 125 points and 228 penalty minutes.

David, 24, played in one game with the Moose after being signed to a pro tryout contract on Dec. 11/06 at Houston and collected an assist. In 16 games with the Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL this season, the Monteral PQ native has scored two goals and 20 assists for 22 points and 47 penalty minutes. In his five-year pro career, David has played in eight career games in the AHL with the Hershey Bears and Bridgeport Sound Tigers. David has played in 43 career ECHL games with Texas and the South Carolina Stingrays where he's scored six goals and 35 assists for 41 points and 88 penalty minutes.
