
Rampage slide past Stars

San Antonio, TX - The Texas Stars (36-23-3-4, 79 points) were defeated by the San Antonio Rampage (31-27-3-6, 71 points) 2-1 in front of 7,210 fans at the AT&T Center on Friday night. Rampage forward Stefan Meyer scored his tenth goal of the season 6:53 into the third period, pushing San Antonio past Texas for the fourth time this season. Rampage goalie Josh Tordjman (15-16-2) made 27 saves in the victory. Stars goalie Matt Climie (18-16-3) stopped 29 in the loss. Texas center Aaron Gagnon scored the lone Stars goal in the defeat. The same two teams will meet again at 7:00 PM on Saturday night at Cedar Park Center.
San Antonio scored the only goal of the first period, netting a power-play tally at 7:23 for the 1-0 lead. Left wing Brett MacLean found Alexandre Picard in front of the Texas net for a redirection past Stars goalie Matt Climie. Picard's 21st goal of the season was also assisted by Kyle Turris.
Despite getting outshot 14-7 in the second period, Texas scored the lone goal of the middle period. Defenseman Dan Jancevski ripped a shot from the blueline to the San Antonio net. Rampage goalie Josh Tordjman made the initial save, but Stars center Aaron Gagnon put in the rebound for a his 19th goal of the season. Right wing Greg Rallo added an assist on the play that tied the game 1-1 at 4:13.
In the third period, forward Stefan Meyer redirected the puck past Texas goalie Matt Climie for the 2-1 lead at 6:53. San Antonio winger Gavin Morgan held the puck in at the left point and then tossed it to the net. Meyer tipped it for his tenth goal of the year and the eventual game-winning tally.
Texas will host San Antonio in a rematch at home on Saturday, March 13th at 7:00 pm. On Saturday, the first 2,000 fans receive a Texas Stars pet leash. Also, the State Farm Family 4-Pack will be available to fans and includes four tickets, four hotdogs and four sodas for $44.00. The Stars also host the Milwaukee Admirals on Thursday, March 18th at 7:30 PM. On Thursday, fans will have the opportunity to purchase a $20.00 terrace-level ticket, which includes All-You-Can-Eat popcorn, hotdogs, peanuts, soda and nachos.
