Rivermen Sign Matt McIlvane To PTO

PEORIA, Ill. (March 12, 2010) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that the club has signed forward Matt McIlvane to a professional tryout agreement. This is his second stint with Peoria after scoring a goal on March 4 in a 4-3 win over Grand Rapids.

McIlvane, 24, had been playing with the Bloomington PrairieThunder, of the International Hockey League, where he has 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in 57 games. He has a total of five AHL games experience with the first four coming for the Binghamton Senators in 2008 following the completion of his senior season at Ohio State University. Last season, an injury limited him to just 14 games for the Berlin Polar Bears of Duetsche Eishockey Liga.

A native of Naperville, Ill. McIlvane was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the eighth round (#251 overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

The Rivermen are in Houston to take on the Aeros tonight at 7:35 p.m. Peoria currently sits nine points back of fourth-place Milwaukee for the final playoff spot in the West Division. All games can be heard locally on Hippie 101.1FM or online through www.rivermen.net.
