Norfolk Admirals News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - The top line of captain Ryan Craig, alternate captain Adam Hall and rookie forward Dana Tyrell combined for two goals and three assists. However, their Norfolk Admirals (34-28-3-2) fell 3-2 after a shootout to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (35-24-3-4) on Friday night at Norfolk Scope Arena.

Bridgeport took a 1-0 lead 7:41 into the game. Trevor Smith picked off an Admirals pass at the Norfolk blue line and passed the puck to Mark Flood. Flood's shot from the low slot went off the back of an Admirals defender and bounced back into the slot. Tyler Haskins found the loose puck and skated around a poke-check attempt by Norfolk netminder Dustin Tokarski before sliding the puck into the net around Tokarski's left leg.

Norfolk tied the game at 1-1 early in the second period. Dana Tyrell forced a turnover in the neutral zone and got the puck to Ryan Craig. Craig entered the slot and passed to Adam Hall in the right circle. Hall returned the pass to Craig in the slot and the captain sent a wrister past the blocker side of Bridgeport backstop Scott Munroe at 1:34 for Craig's 20th goal of the season.

The Admirals took a 2-1 lead just 3:34 into the third period. Dana Tyrell sent a pass from the left half wall to Adam Hall in the slot. As Ryan Craig wreaked havoc in the crease, Hall was able to send a wrist shot from the right hashmarks of the slot that went past the glove hand of Munroe for his 13th goal of the season.

Bridgeport knotted the score at 2-2 midway through the third period with Haskins' second goal of the game. Sean Bentivoglio picked off a pass after a strange bounce in the right corner behind the goal line and centered it toward the slot. Haskins banked it past Tokarski from the top of the goalmouth at 12:32.

After a scoreless overtime, it took four rounds before anyone converted a shootout opportunity when Bridgeport's Robin Figren deked around Tokarski and shot the puck into the net in the bottom of the fourth round. Bridgeport claimed the 1-0 shootout victory after Munroe denied Mitch Fadden in the top of the fifth, giving the Sound Tigers the 3-2 win in the game.

Dustin Tokarski (28 shots, 26 saves) took the shootout loss. Scott Munroe (30 shots, 28 saves) earned the win.

Norfolk was 0-3 on the power play. Bridgeport was 0-1.

The Admirals and Sound Tigers will square off again tomorrow night at Scope at 7:15 for CHKD Night.
