Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Grand Rapids Griffins 3-2 on Friday night at Copps Coliseum. The loss ends their franchise record-tying nine game-winning streak and is their first loss since February 16th.
The Griffins got on the scoreboard first when they scored at 5:51 of the opening frame. Jamie Tardif fired a shot that was stopped by Hamilton starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins. Cory Emmerton grabbed the loose rebound and fired it past the goaltender.
The Bulldogs tied the game at 8:05 of the second stanza. Mike Glumac raced in on a breakaway before firing a backhand shot that was saved by Grand Rapids starting goaltender Daniel Larsson. Grant Stevenson batted the loose puck past the goaltender for a shorthanded marker.
Riley Armstrong regained the lead for the Griffins at 9:45. Jordan Owens received the puck from John Vigilante before sending a pass to Armstrong, who was positioned in front of the goaltender. Following a scramble in front of the net, Armstrong slid the puck between the legs of Desjardins.
Grand Rapids took a 3-1 lead at 1:17 of the final frame. Sergei Kolosov dished the puck to Patrick Rissmiller, who skated towards the net. Rissmiller used a backhand shot to flip the puck over a sprawled Desjardins and into the top of the net.
The âDogs cut the lead to one at 9:15 of the third stanza. Aaron Palushaj received the puck from Frederic St. Denis before dishing the puck to Ryan Russell, who was stationed in front of the net. Russell avoided a poke check from Larsson before backhanding a shot over the glove of Larsson.
