Rampage Sink Admirals with 3-2 Shootout Win

SAN ANTONIO - Jeff Taffe helped the Rampage avenge Wednesday's loss to Milwaukee by sinking the Admirals with his decisive goal to give San Antonio a 3-2 shootout win Friday night at the AT&T Center. David LeNeveu had 33 saves and stopped four of the Admirals' five shootout attempts recording his third win on the season.

After a scoreless first period, both teams came out literally fighting as Logan Stephenson pounded away at Milwaukee's leading penalty minute holder, Kelsey Wilson only 18 seconds into the second frame.

Only 22 minutes into his Rampage season debut, Joel Perrault put San Antonio on the scoreboard a little over two minutes into the second stanza when he picked up Joe Callahan's shot that was deflected off the right-corner wall and scooped in past his former teammate, Karl Goehring.

A little over two-minutes later, Taffe took a shot through the legs of Admirals' defenseman Kevin Klein and fooled Goehring for the Rampage to claim a 2-0 lead. Yanick Lehoux recorded his 200th AHL point on the play with an assist, along with Pascal Rheaume, on Taffe's 12th goal of the season.

Six-minutes later, and with a five-on-three advantage, Rich Peverley was able to work the puck in the crease past LeNeveu's right skate for the Admirals' first goal of the night. Fueling on the momentum, Brandon Segal tacked on another point for Milwaukee at the 14:47 mark to tie the game at 2-2.

Perrault and Taffe each recorded a goal in the five-round shootout on Goehring while Mikko Lehtonen was the only Admiral to get one past LeNeveu.

The Rampage host the Houston Aeros this Sunday for a 5 p.m. game at the AT&T Center.
