
P-Bruins Defeat Falcons 3-2

Springfield, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 3-2 Friday evening at The MassMutual Center. The P-Bruins got goals from T.J. Trevelyan, David Krejci and Bobby Allen.
The Falcons took the 1-0 lead, while on the power play during the opening period. At the 11:07 mark Daniel Corso dropped the puck off to former P-Bruin Eric Healey. He sent the puck to the top of the circle, where Daniel Spina shot it past Providence goaltender Jordan Sigalet. The P-Bruins tied the game at one heading into the first intermission. At the 14:25 mark Pascal Pelletier broke up a Springfield pass and fed the puck to Trevelyan, breaking away into the Falcons zone. He skated in alone on Falcons netminder Karri Ramo and put the puck in the net.
The P-Bruins began the second period on the power play and only 22 seconds in took a 2-1 lead. Kris Versteeg worked the puck down the right wing and sent it to Yan Stastny parked on the right side of the net. He backhanded the puck through the crease to Krejci who was wide open back door. Krejci hammered the puck into an open Falcons' net. Providence tallied their second power play goal of the game at the 12:31 mark. This time Krejci carried the puck into the offensive zone down the left wing. He sent a centering pass to Allen and he lifted the puck off his backhand over the left shoulder of Ramo and into the net. The P-Bruins went into the second intermission with 3-1 lead.
In the third period the Falcons scored at the 18:04 mark to pull within a goal. Doug O'Brien scored his second goal of the season with Healey and Spina grabbing the assists. The P-Bruins held on after that for the 3-2 victory. Providence is now tied for fifth in the Atlantic Division with an 18-18-1-2 record, 39 points.
Sigalet stopped 19 of 21 shots he face for the P-Bruins, while Ramo made 23 saves for the Falcons. Providence was 2 for 6 on the power play, while Springfield went 1 for 6 on the man-advantage.
Providence continues their four game road trip Saturday versus the Binghamton Senators at the Broome County Arena at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Arena at Harbor Yard at 1:00 p.m. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center to host the Falcons on Friday, January 19 at 7:05 p.m. for Dunkin' Donuts Travel Mug Night.
