San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - Josh Tordjman delivered a shutout as the San Antonio Rampage tackled two opponents Friday night at the AT&T Center.

The Rampage players took the ice adorned in pink accessories, as they aimed to raise awareness and proceeds in the fight against breast cancer, and defeated the Lake Erie Monsters, 1-0, before a crowd of 5,190.

Tordjman made 26 saves in earning the shutout as the Rampage kept pace with the second-place Rockford IceHogs, who defeated Milwaukee 3-2 to maintain a slim two-point lead over San Antonio.

It was the first home game in over a month for the Rampage, who finished off their successful 14-game, 30-day road trip 7-3-1-3. They have points in 13 of their last 16 games (8-3-1-4) and equaled a franchise-record by moving 14 games over the .500 mark.

With things still scoreless, the Rampage (30-16-3-7) charged ahead in the second period with what turned out to be the game's only goal.

Rampage center and 2008 AHL All-Star Joey Tenute won a face-off in Lake Erie ice, which was corralled by teammate Jon DiSalvatore and pushed up along the far wall. Tenute picked up the gliding puck near the red-line and skated hard into Lake Erie's zone, bringing goaltender Mike Wall out. Tenute glazed a perfect pass through the slot to a streaking Bill Thomas, who rammed in his 19th goal of the season. Fittingly, the two connected with pink sticks used by a few of the players in an effort to shoot down breast cancer.

Thomas moved into sole possession of seventh place in team history with his 32nd goal as a member of the Rampage and equaled Chris Durno for the team lead this season. He also extended his point streak to four games (three goals, three assists). Tenute notched his 20th helper of the year.

Tordjman held Lake Erie off the board the rest of the way for his first shutout of the season. He has not lost in regulation in 12 of his last 13 starts (9-1-0-3). The second-year netminder has turned away 286 of 305 shots during a 15-game stretch - a remarkable save-percentage of .938. It was also the 15th time in the past 17 games Tordjman has played that he allowed three goals or less (10-3-1-3).

The Rampage take to the ice in a rematch against the Lake Erie Monsters as the two teams conclude their season series at 5 p.m. Sunday evening in the AT&T Center.
