PHILADELPHIA - Josef Boumedienne scored a power play goal with 3:40 remaining in the second period that stood up as the game-winner in a 3-2 Philadelphia Phantoms loss to the Hershey Bears on Friday night at the Wachovia Spectrum. The loss was Philadelphia's first in regulation since February 6 and trimmed Philadelphia's lead over the Bears in the East Division to 10 points.

The game was tied at 2-2 before it was nine minutes old. Boyd Kane put the Phantoms on the board first, scoring during a delayed penalty call just 50 seconds into the affair. Jared Ross was behind the Hershey net and flicked a pass in front, and Kane was standing by at the top of the crease to fire it home for the 1-0 lead.

But Hershey evened the score 46 seconds later. Scott Barney scored shortly after a faceoff in the Phantoms end, beating Brian Boucher at 1:36.

The Bears jumped ahead at the 5:01 mark. Chris Bourque was in the left wing faceoff circle and reached out for a puck, which he then swept past Boucher for the 2-1 lead.

But the Phantoms answered on the power play at 8:54. Alexandre Picard took a shot from the point that Ross knocked to the ice and then pitchforked it past Frederic Cassivi to tie the game at 2-2, which stood at the first intermission.

Boumedienne's game-winner came during a four-on-three power play. His high blue line shot negotiated its way through traffic and past Boucher. The goal extended Boumedienne's scoring streak to 15 games with two goals and 18 assists during that time.

Philadelphia's record now sits at 36-18-2-2 for 76 points, 10 ahead of the Bears. The teams meet again tomorrow night at 7:00 at the GIANT Center in Hershey. The next Phantoms home game is next Friday, February 29 against the Binghamton Senators. The first 5,000 fans through the doors receive a Bobby Clarke figurine courtesy of Toyota. Tickets are available at the Wachovia Complex box office, online at ComcastTIX.com or phantomshockey.com, or by phone at 1-800-298-4200.
