Peoria Rivermen News Release

The Quad City Flames rode a four-goal second period and a Carsen Germyn hat trick in a 6-2 win over the Peoria Rivermen at the iWireless Center on Friday night.

All four Flames goals came in a span of just 7:30 during the middle frame, with Germyn scoring twice to highlight the scoring parade. Germyn tallied just 58 seconds into the period to start the barrage, followed by a Tomi Maki marker at 2:41 to make it 2-1. Germyn scored again at 6:18 on a wrap-around play where the puck popped up in the air off the stick of Hannu Toivonen and went over his head into the cage. Tim Ramholt's shot from the left point through traffic beat a screened Toivonen at 8:28 to finish off the goal scoring in the period.

The Flames would tack on two more in the third period, with Germyn completing the hat trick at 2:03 followed by Kris Chucko's wrist shot for his seventh of the year at 13:23.

Nikolay Lemtyugov established a three-game scoring streak in the first period, working a two-on-one with Jean-Guy Trudel and cashing in a backhand feed at 4:32 to make it 1-0 Peoria. The Rivermen, after trailing 4-1 in shots prior to the goal, out-shot the Flames 16-5 over the remainder of the stanza.

Nicholas Drazenovic notched the other marker for Peoria in the game, curling back through the low slot towards his left side and beating Curtis McElhinney (28 saves) with a wrist shot for the 6-2 final.

Peoria returns to action on Sunday afternoon when they host the Manitoba Moose at 4 pm on Comcast Cable/Peoria Journal Star Family Fun on the Run Day.
