San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio center Bracken Kearns scored the lone goal as the Rampage fell 4-1 to the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday night in front of 8,828 fans at the AT&T Center. They have accumulated 78 points so far this season on a 37-26-3-1 record.
After a scoreless first period, the Rampage were the first to jump on the scoreboard as Kearns netted his 18th goal of the season. Dane Byers and Matt Watkins assisted on Kearns' shot from the right goal post that snuck just underneath the cross bar as it went top shelf over Admirals goaltender Jeremy Smith.
Milwaukee came back to score three goals within 1:38 starting at the 11:29 mark of the second period to take a 3-1 lead. Defenseman Aaron Johnson initiated the scoring spree when he tied the game at 1-1 on the power play with a shot from the left faceoff dot that went over Rampage netminder Joe Fallon's left shoulder.
The Admirals claimed a 2-1 advantage when Teemu Laakso snapped a shot from the right faceoff circle that went high glove side past Fallon.
Milwaukee extended their lead to 3-1 when right wing Andreas Thuresson received the puck below the left faceoff circle and sent a shot to the back of the net through a small gap over Fallon's right skate at the 13:07 mark of the middle stanza.
A full-on brawl broke out 13:31 into the second period where 66 combined penalty minutes were dished out between the two clubs with Rampage defenseman Nolan Yonkman and Admirals skater Kelsey Wilson being ejected from the contest with game misconducts.
Rampage head coach Ray Edwards pulled Fallon with 1:19 remaining in the contest in favor of a sixth attacker, however, Milwaukee right wing Chris Mueller scored on the empty net to seal the Admirals win at 4-1.
Fallon made 29 saves on 32 Milwaukee shot attempts while Smith stopped 29 of 30 Rampage shot attempts.
The Rampage return to the ice tomorrow night when they play the first part of a home-and-home series against the Houston Aeros at the Toyota Center at 7:35 p.m. They will host the Aeros at the AT&T Center for a 3 p.m. puck drop on Sunday afternoon.
