March 18, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Bridgeport Islanders News Release
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Mar. 18, 2011) - At the request of the City of Bridgeport and Fairfield University, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers have moved their game against the Binghamton Senators originally scheduled for Sunday, March 20 at 3 p.m. to Sunday, March 20 at 6 p.m. This schedule change will allow Fairfield University to host its second-round NIT basketball game against Kent State at Webster Bank Arena at 12:30 p.m.
"This is a great opportunity to showcase the City of Bridgeport, Fairfield University and Webster Bank Arena in front of a national television audience," said Howard Saffan, President of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. "We are happy to accommodate them in this special event and also want to thank the Binghamton Senators and the American Hockey League for their flexibility in this situation. "
Any fans who have already purchased a ticket to Sunday's game can use that ticket for the 6 p.m. game against Binghamton and will also receive a free ticket to the Fairfield University basketball game against Kent State at 12:30. Fans can receive their free ticket to the Fairfield University basketball game by showing their Sound Tigers ticket to a representative at the Webster Bank Arena box office. Fans can also receive their free Sound Tigers ticket to any of the remaining four Sound Tigers home games by bringing their ticket stub from Sunday's game to the Webster Bank Arena box office.
"We apologize for any inconvenience this schedule change has caused for our loyal fans," Saffan said. "By making these additional offers, fans will get the chance to see exciting postseason college basketball and our game against Binghamton in addition to another Sound Tigers game later this season. Hopefully, our fans will take this opportunity to enjoy a great day of Connecticut sports at the premier arena in Connecticut."
