Syracuse, NY - It took Crunch goaltender Timo Pielmeier until his 90th professional game, but the Deggendorf, Germany native finally recorded his first pro shutout tonight, making 30 saves to secure a hard-fought 1-0 win against the Toronto Marlies at The Oncenter War Memorial Arena. The win was the Crunch's fifth in their last seven games and ended a two-game mini-skid.

"It was great to finally get my first pro shutout," said Pielmeier. "I was pretty close last year and they (the other team) scored with like 10 seconds left in the game and it feels good, you know, it feels good to get in the next game without being scored on."

Kyle Palmieri tallied the lone goal for the Crunch with just over eight minutes to play when he crashed the net and banged home a rebound on a second effort past an outstretched Ben Scrivens, who stopped 23 of 24 shots for the visitors. Maxime Macenauer and Mat Clark picked up the helpers.

"Mace (Macenauer) got a nice pass from Clarkie (Clark) up the wall and took it to the net and me and Patty (Maroon) were battling for the rebound and one squirted out onto my stick and I pretty much had an open net," said Palmieri about his goal.

The game was a nice bounce back effort for the Crunch, who were beaten 6-1 by Albany at home this past Wednesday.

"Obviously, we had a tough game Wednesday night, but we just have to put it in the past and come out here and do our best to get two points," said Palmieri. "I think we have a lot of games at home this last part of the season and we want to have our fans behind us and keep going and hopefully keep winning."

The game remained scoreless after a brisk first 20 minutes that saw very few stoppages, as Toronto outshot the Crunch 11-3 in the first period. Another scoreless middle stanza knotted the teams in a scoreless tie through two periods, until Palmieri's goal at the 11:45 mark.

The Crunch take to the ice again tomorrow night, as they battle the Charlotte Checkers at 7:30 p.m. at The Oncenter War Memorial Arena.
