Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria Rivermen Chief Operating Officer Jason Penning announced today that Wednesday's Tip-A-Riv Dinner raised $6,000 to be donated to the "Cherish Every Moment - The Dax Locke Foundation." In its first two years of existence, the Tip-A-Riv Dinners have raised $11,478 for local charities.

"This event was another great success and aside from raising money for a great cause, the fans and players alike had a wonderful time," said Penning. "We have raised more money and had more fun each time and we look forward to expanding this event in the upcoming years."

Each time, the event has been held at Gracie's Sports Grille and Pizza in Washington, Ill. With the players donning special aprons and assisting the Gracie's serving staff throughout the evening, all of the tips earned were donated to the cause. The autographed aprons were auctioned off along with various jerseys, sticks, memorabilia and donations from Rivermen business partners to earn extra money.

Julie and Austin Locke formed the "Cherish Every Moment - The Dax Locke Foundation" in honor of their son, Dax. It is a non-profit organization whose goal is to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. So far Dax has raised over a quarter of a million dollars.
