San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - Right wing Michal Repik scored the San Antonio Rampage's lone goal in their 3-1 loss to the Abbotsford Heat at the AT&T Center on Friday night.
The Rampage got on the board first when Repik cashed in on a one-timer from the top of the crease 19:54 into the opening period. His shot beat Heat backstop Danny Taylor blocker side to give San Antonio a 1-0 advantage. The assists on Repik's 12th goal of the year went to forwards James Wright and Jon Matsumoto.
Abbotsford knotted the score at 1-1 with a power-play goal at the 7:01 mark of the third. Left wing Ryan Howse pounced on the rebound of a Krys Kolanos shot and swept the puck past Rampage netminder Jacob Markstrom for his fourth marker of the season. Defenseman Brian Connelly registered the secondary assist on the play.
Center Dustin Sylvester gave the Heat a 2-1 lead nearly two minutes later with a wrist shot from the right circle that sailed past Markstrom's right shoulder. Sylvester's 11th goal of the campaign, which came with both teams playing a man down, was unassisted.
Defenseman Clay Wilson added an empty-net goal at the 19:11 mark of the third to make the count 3-1 in favor of Abbotsford. Center Paul Byron notched the only assist on the Wilson score.
Taylor turned aside 32 of 33 Rampage shots for his 17th win of the season. Markstrom made 25 stops on 27 Abbotsford attempts in the San Antonio loss. The loss marks the first regulation loss for the Rampage this season when leading after two periods.
San Antonio (33-25-3-1) finishes a back-to-back set tomorrow with a 7 p.m. (CST) home contest against the Rockford IceHogs on Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Night.
