San Antonio Rampage News Release
CEDAR PARK, Texas - Brian Foster backstopped the Rampage to a 4-0 win over the Texas Stars at Cedar Park Center in their first exhibition game of the season on Friday night. Foster made 30 saves for the shutout.
Eric Selleck, Bracken Kearns, Joe Devin, and Justin Vaive all tallied goals en route to the Rampage victory. Selleck struck first 1:18 into the game when linemate Anthony Luciani recovered a Roman Derlyuk dump-in and fed Selleck in the slot. Selleck, positioned to the left of Stars' goalie Tyler Beskorowany, ripped a shot inside the left post to give the Rampage a 1-0 lead.
At 7:42 Kearns widened the San Antonio lead to two goals. He jumped on the rebound of defenseman Evan Oberg's shot and deposited the puck into the net past a sprawling Beskorowany. Luciani set up the play by winning the faceoff back to Oberg.
Just 1:05 after Kearns' goal, Devin tallied his first preseason goal. Selleck recovered a loose puck off of defenseman Adam Comrie's stick and sent a cross-crease pass to Devin, who finished the play with a shot high over Beskorowany's shoulder to make the count 3-0 in favor of the Rampage midway through the first frame.
The Rampage chipped in a fourth goal at the 8:41 mark of the second period. San Antonio forward Daniel Koger started a passing play from Koger to Kearns to Vaive in the middle of the high slot. With Beskorowany out of position, Vaive fired a shot high past the Texas goalie's blocker side that gave the Rampage a 4-0 lead.
The Rampage will return to San Antonio tomorrow to host the Stars for a 3 p.m. exhibition game at Northwoods Ice Center, the official practice facility for the Rampage. Rampage Fan Fest starts at 1 p.m. and includes several interactive games and player autographs starting at 2:30 p.m. General admission is $5.
