
Bulldogs Defeat Senators 4-1 in Pre-Season Opener

Victoriaville, Quebec - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Binghamton Senators 4-1 on Friday night in their first pre-season game of the 2011-2012 season at Colisee Desjardins in Victoriaville, Quebec. Alexander Avtsin scored two goals, Brock Trotter recorded three assists and Brian Willsie scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in the win.
The Senators opened the game's scoring at 12:00 of the first period. Former Bulldog Corey Locke dished a pass across the ice to Bobby Raymond, who fired a shot that beat Hamilton starting goaltender Robert Mayer over the glove and sailed into the top of the net.
The 'Dogs tied the game 1-1 at 18:13 of the opening stanza. Trotter sent the puck to Willsie, who proceeded to feed a pass to Avtsin. Avtsin finished off the tic-tac-toe play by snapping the puck past Binghamton starting goaltender Mike McKenna.
Midway through the second period Brian Stewart replaced Mike McKenna in the Binghamton net.
The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead in the final frame. Trotter sent a pass to Willsie, who tapped the puck past Stewart and into the back of the net. Philippe Lefebvre gave Hamilton a 3-1 lead. Lefebvre received the puck from Gabriel Dumont before blasting a one-timer shot. The puck sailed past the glove of Stewart and into the back of the net. Avtsin added his second goal of the game late in the third frame. Trotter fired a shot on net that was stopped by Stewart. Avtsin grabbed the rebound and fired it past the goaltender to give the Bulldogs a 4-1 lead.
The 'Dogs will meet the Senators in a pre-season rematch tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. at the Centre Marcel-Dionne in Drummondville, Quebec. The game can be heard live on AM 820 CHAM (www.820cham.com).
