Rainiers Roll Past Reno, 5-1

TACOMA, Wash. -- The Tacoma Rainiers utilized a four-run rally in the sixth inning to top the Reno Aces 5-1 in front of a sell-out crowd of 7,035 at Cheney Stadium on Thursday night.
Tacoma trailed 1-0 through five innings before posting four runs on seven hits in the next frame. Chris Taylor tied the score with a one-out RBI single that plated Humberto Quintero. First baseman Ji-Man Choi delivered the go-ahead runs with a double to center field that scored Taylor and Abraham Almonte.
Nick Franklin rounded out the inning with an RBI double that scored Choi and extended the infielder's hitting streak to 12 games - the longest recorded by a Rainiers player this season. Franklin is batting .327 (17x52) with five extra-base hits and 10 RBI since June 20.
The Rainiers lineup combined to collect a total of nine hits in their series finale with the Aces. Almonte and Taylor led the club after each posted 2-for-4 efforts. The outfielder Almonte hit a solo home run in the sixth inning - his fourth with Tacoma this season.
Starter Jordan Pries (5-5) collected his team-leading fifth win of the season after holding the Aces to one run on six hits in 7.0 innings. The right-hander walked three and struck out seven in his 15th turn in the Rainiers rotation. Relievers Stephen Kohlscheen (1.0) and Stephen Pryor (1.0) combined to fan three in 2.0 innings of work out of the bullpen.
The Rainiers (40-46) hit the road and head to Fresno for a three-game series with the Grizzlies that begins tomorrow, July 4. Right-hander Andrew Carraway (3-4, 4.88) is slated to start for Tacoma in the series opener against Fresno left-hander Edwin Escobar (3-7, 5.00). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
