RailRiders Hold Off Red Wings, 7-2

Rochester, NY - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders topped the Rochester Red Wings 7-2 on Saturday night. SWB scored in five straight innings to finish the contest.

The RailRiders didn't waste any time getting on the board with in a run in the first inning. Jamie Westbrook walked to reach and Andres Chaparro scorched an RBI single to bring him home.

Rochester tied it up quickly in the bottom half. Derek Hill and Luis Garcia each recorded a double to make it one apiece.

In the fifth inning, SWB took back the lead. Wilmer Difo drew a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Brandon Lockridge's base hit moved him on to third. Then Estevan Florial nailed a sacrifice fly for a 2-1 lead.

The Red Wings got it right back in the bottom half once again. Erick Mejia led off with a two-bagger and scored on Richie Martin's base hit.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre put the go ahead on the board in next inning. Franchy Cordero roped a base hit and stole second. Rodolfo Duran recorded a run scoring knock for a 3-2 advantage.

The visitors added an insurance run in the seventh with another sacrifice fly off the bat of Chaparro.

In the eighth inning, the RailRiders kept the bats alive. Difo walked again and Lockridge singled to put two on. A two-run double from Florial made it a four run lead.

SWB made it five straight innings with a run putting one more on in the seventh. Back-to-back doubles from Jake Lamband Duran drove the final score to 7-2.

Clayton Beeter (W, 2-4) pitched five plus innings of two run ball. He walked four and struck out three. Zach Greenetossed two shutout frames. Ron Marinaccio sat down all six batters he faced to end the contest.

Roddery Munoz got the start allowing two runs in his four innings of work. Anthony Banda (L, 1-4) gave up the winning run in the fifth.

The RailRiders and Red Wings wrap up the series tomorrow at 1:05 PM. Righty Mitch Spence is set to make the start at Innovative Field.
