DURHAM, NC - Bulls center fielder Raimel Tapia homered and knocked a 2-run single, catcher Francisco Mejia went yard twice and Bulls pitchers Carlos Garcia and Victory Castaneda combined for six scoreless innings in Durham's 10-2 victory over the Nashville Sounds in front of an announced crowd of 9,326 on Saturday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The Bulls would strike first with 3B Curtis Mead's longshot to left field. Tapia and Mejia each went yard to extend Durham's lead to 3-2. The Bulls put up five tallies in the sixth, including Tapia's 2-run single and Mejia's 2-run homer from the opposite side of the plate. SS Tristan Gray knocked an RBI triple in the following inning, followed by 2B Ronny Simon's single shot to right field.
Durham reliever Carlos Garcia (4.0 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 6 SO) earned the victory, while Nashville starter Eric Lauer (4.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 8 SO) suffered the loss.
The two teams are set to face off again on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05pm.
