
Radek Smolenak Re-Assigned to Norfolk

NORFOLK, VA - Today, Norfolk Admirals General Manager Claude Loiselle announced that left wing Radek Smolenak has been re-assigned to Norfolk from the ECHL Mississippi Sea Wolves.
Smolenak, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound forward from Prague, Czech Republic, has appeared in 19 games with the Sea Wolves this season and has seven goals and eight assists. His 15 points are tied for the team lead and his three power play goals are second on the club. He also appeared in two games with the Admirals to start the season going scoreless with two penalty minutes.
The 21-year-old Smolenak was a third-round draft pick (73rd overall) of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He made his professional debut last season with the Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL) and Springfield Falcons (AHL). In 22 career AHL games, Smolenak has one assist and ten penalty minutes. In 62 career ECHL games, he has 22 goals and 28 assists with 49 penalty minutes.
Smolenak played two seasons with Kingston of the OHL. In 132 games, he notched 74 goals and 70 assists for 144 points. He led the Frontenacs and was tied for 11 th in the OHL with 42 goals in 2005-06.
The Admirals will close out their five-game road trip on Friday night in Philadelphia with a 7:05 faceoff. The Admirals return to Norfolk to host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and the Stanley Cup on Saturday night.
