Albany Devils News Release
Rewind:
Friday, Falcons 4 vs. DEVILS 1
Jean-Francois Jacques had a hand in all four goals for Springfield, as the Falcons busted open a tied game with three markers in the second period. The Falcons left wing picked up three assists and a power play goal with 1:17 before the second intermission that put Springfield up 4-1. Liam Reddox also made his presence felt with two goals and an assist in the contest. Olli Malmivaara knotted the game at 1-1 in the first period with his first goal of the season.
Saturday, SOUND TIGERS 4 vs. Devils 3 (SO)
The Devils battled back twice against the Sound Tigers to tie the game and even owned a 3-2 lead 25 seconds into the third period thanks to Benoit Mondou's third goal of the season. Jeff Tambellini, however, registered the game-tying goal later in the period and then scored in the fourth round of the shootout to seal a 4-3 win for Bridgeport. Frank Doyle stopped a season-high 53 shots through overtime, while Noah Clarke picked up his seventh power play goal this year.
Sunday, DEVILS 6 vs. Monarchs 3
Tied with Manchester, 1-1, after two periods, Lowell scored a season high five goals in the final frame to pull away for a 6-3 win. Stephen Gionta notched the contest's first and last goal while recording the second hat trick of his professional career. Petr Vrana gathered three assists, while Doyle saved 34-of-37 for his first win since November 2 - a 3-2 triumph over the Monarchs.
In the standings
The Devils went 1-1-0-1 during their three-game, three-day weekend and pulled themselves out of the cellar and into a tie for fifth place in the Atlantic Division with the Manchester Monarchs. Lowell, however, is just one point ahead of the Worcester Sharks and is looking to close the gap on the Portland Pirates, who sit in fourth and are seven points ahead.
Coming Up
This week's schedule will be heavy with the Springfield Falcons as the Devils play host on Wednesday, December 5 before traveling to the MassMutual Center on Saturday, Decmber 8. G Jeff Delauriers leads the AHL with 11 wins and C Rob Schremp is on an eight game scoring streak (2g-10a-12pt). The Falcons have won both games versus the Devils this season.
In between games against Springfield, the Devils will take on the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Hartford Civic Center on Friday, December 7. Hartford recently notched a 3-2 overtime win against Lowell on November 24 and lead the season series 2-0-0-0.
