
Canadiens Recall Jaroslav Halak; Cedrick Desjardins To Join Bulldogs

HAMILTON, ON - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that goaltender Jaroslav Halak has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. As a result, the Bulldogs summoned netminder Cedrick Desjardins from the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL.
Halak, 22, has appeared in 11 games with Hamilton so far this season, posting a 4-4-2 record with one shutout, a 2.66 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. In 51-career AHL games, all with the Bulldogs, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound goaltender has a record of 27-21-1 with 10 shutouts, a 2.21 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage.
The native of Bratislava, Slovakia, registered a 10-6-0 record with two shutouts, a 2.89 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage in 16 games with Montreal during the 2006-2007 NHL season. Halak was selected by the Canadiens in the 9th round, 271st overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Desjardins, 22, has a 6-3-1 record with three shutouts, a 2.01 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage in 10 games with Cincinnati this season. The 6-foot, 183-pound netminder played in three games with Hamilton in the AHL during the 2006-2007 campaign, notching a 0-2-0 record with a 2.96 goals-against average and a .879 save percentage.
The native of Edmunston, New Brunswick, signed a two-year AHL contract with the Bulldogs on July 26th, 2006.
The defending Calder Cup Champion Hamilton Bulldogs return to action on Friday, December 7th at 7:30 p.m. when they host the Binghamton Senators at Copps Coliseum.
