LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

Vs. Rochester (11/30): Right wing Mark Mancari scored two goals and an assist in the Rochester Americans 3-1 victory over the Manchester Monarchs at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Monarchs defenseman Brian Boyle scored the lone power play goal for Manchester. Center Drew Larman added his second tally of the season for the Americans to accompany Mancari's two goals. Monarchs goaltender Jonathan Quick stopped 22-of-24 shots he faced in the loss, while Americans netminder Adam Dennis was awarded the win stopping 27-of-28 shots. Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Rochester was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

Vs. Rockford (12/1): On a night dedicated to the Boston Red Sox's success, the Manchester Monarchs had some success of their own, achieving a 3-2 shootout victory over the Rockford IceHogs at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. Monarchs centers Gabe Gauthier and Trevor Lewis tallied in regulation and Lewis scored twice in the shootout. Left wing Troy Brouwer and center Petri Kontiola scored in regulation for the IceHogs. Monarchs goaltender Dan Cloutier stopped 29-of-31 shots he faced in the win. IceHogs netminder Wade Flaherty stopped 18-of-19 shots through 31 minutes before being replaced by goaltender Corey Crawford who stopped 14 shots in the shootout loss. Manchester went 0-for-2 on the power play. Rockford was 1-for-2 with the man advantage.

At Lowell (12/2): The puck crossed the goal line seven times in the third period as the Manchester Monarchs fell to the Lowell Devils 6-3 at the Tsongas Arena on Sunday evening. The Monarchs collected goals from left wings Petr Kanko, left wing Jeff Giuliano and defenseman Troy Milam. The Devils had two goals from former Monarchs left wing Noah Clarke, two from left wing Stephen Gionta and one from left wing Patrick Davis and right wing Barry Tallackson. Monarchs goaltender Dan Cloutier took the loss stopping 19-of-25 shots. Devils netminder Frank Doyle earned his fifth win of the season with 34 saves. Manchester went 1-for-5 on the power play. Lowell was 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Monarchs (8-11-2-1) are tied for fifth place in the Atlantic Division with the Lowell Devils (8-11-2-1) with 19 points each.

The Monarchs power play sits atop the AHL with a 26.0-percentage and the penalty kill is in 29th place with 75.0-percent.

The Monarchs have the best home power play record as they have scored 18 goals on 57 opportunities at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Manchester has scored eight power play tallies on the road for 10th place in the league.

13 of the 21 Monarchs games thus far this season have been determined by one goal. The Monarchs are 6-4-2-1 in one goal games, 1-4-0-0 in two goal games, 0-3-0-0 in three goal games and 1-0-0-0 in four goal games.

Manchester is 5-1-1-0 when leading after the first period and 4-1-0-0 when leading after the second period.

When scoring first in the game, the Monarchs are 6-2-2-0.

The best days of the week for the Monarchs to play on are Saturday and Sunday. The team is 5-2-1-1 in eight Saturday games this season and 2-1-1-0 in three Sunday games. On Wednesdays, the Monarchs have a record of 0-1-0-0. Manchester is 1-7-0-0 on Fridays thus far this season.

Right wing Teddy Purcell (7-24=31) leads the Monarchs with 31 points in 22 games.

Purcell has scored at least one point in 18-of-22 games this season.

Purcell's 31 points lead both the overall AHL in scoring and the rookies.

His 24 assists are ranked first in the AHL in that category and also rank first among rookies.

Purcell's four power play goals are tied for sixth among AHL rookies.

His 15 assists on the power play rank first in the AHL.

Center Gabe Gauthier (8-19=27) is ranked second on the Monarchs squad with 27 points.

Gauthier's 19 assists also rank second on the Monarchs.

Gauthier has scored at least one point in 17-of-21 games this season.

Gauthier's 27 points are tied for third in the AHL.

Gauthier's 19 assists are also tied for second in the AHL in that category.

10 of Gauthier's 19 assists this season have come on the power play which ties him for fifth place in the AHL for power play assists.

Gauthier's six power play goals are tied for third place in the AHL among power play tallies.

Defenseman Peter Harrold leads Monarchs blueliners with 22 points (6-16=22) in 21 games.

13 of Harrold's 16 assists have come on the power play which ranks him second in the AHL for power play assists.

The second year defenseman is also ranked first among defensemen with 22 points and 16 assists.

Harrold's six goals are tied for fourth among defensemen.

Defenseman Brian Boyle is ranked fourth on the Monarchs squad this season, tied for sixth place among AHL defensemen and ranked eighth among AHL rookies with 17 points (8-9=17).

Boyle also ranks first among AHL rookies and ranked third among defensemen with 71 shots on goal this season.

Boyle's five power play goals are tied for first among defensemen and tied for second among rookies.

The rookie defenseman's two game-winning goals are tied for second among rookies and tied first among defenseman.

Boyle's eight goals are tied for first among AHL defensemen and tied for sixth place with the rookies.

Right wing Kevin Westgarth is tied with left wing Paul Crosty for 14th place in the AHL in penalty minutes with 66 in 20 games. Westgarth is also ranked first among rookies. He has eight major penalties that rank first among rookies.

Rookie goaltender Jonathan Quick (1-2-0) collected his first AHL win in the Monarchs 5-1 victory over the Bruins on Sunday, November 25.

Quick also set new season records for the most saves in a game by a goaltender with 34 saves on 35 shots on Sunday and the most saves in a period with 17 saves on 17 shots in the second period of Sunday's game against Providence.
