THIS WEEK'S GAME PREVIEWS

--WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2007 - SPRINGFIELD FALCONS AT LOWELL DEVILS--

The Springfield Falcons and Lowell Devils meet for the third time this season and second meeting in less than a week. The Falcons most recently beat the Devils, 4-1, on November 30 with Springfield's Liam Reddox leading the attack with two goals. Jean-Francois Jacques had a four-point night with one goal and three assists, while center Marc Pouliot added one goal and one assist in the victory for Springfield. The Falcons lead the season series 2-0 having outscored the Devils 8-3 this year. Petr Vrana continues to lead Lowell in scoring against the Falcons this season with three assists in two games, while Noah Clarke has two goals for Lowell in two games against Springfield. Vrana leads Lowell in scoring for the season with four goals and 16 assists for 20 points in 22 games, while Clarke leads the team in goals with 10 in 22 games. Lowell has moved up to fifth place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 8-11-2-1, including a 6-3 win over Manchester on December 2. Lowell's Stephen Gionta led the way with a hat trick in the win. Gionta is now second on the Devils to Clarke in goals scored this year with nine.

--FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2007 - SPRINGFIELD FALCONS VS. BRIDGEPORT SOUND TIGERS--

The Falcons and Sound Tigers will face-off for the only time in Springfield this season on Friday night. Bridgeport heads into Springfield with a record of 8-11-1-0 good for 17 points and seventh place in the East Division. The Sound Tigers are led in scoring by left wing Jeff Tambellini, who has seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points in 20 games. Left wing Steve Regier leads Bridgeport in power play goals with five and center Ben Walter is third in scoring with six goals and eight assists for 14 points in 15 games. Goaltenders Mike Morrison and Joey MacDonald have shared the goaltending duties. Morrison has a record of 4-4-0 in eight games with a 2.86 goals against average and .903 save percentage. MacDonald has a record of 4-8-0 with a 2.90 goals against average and .906 save percentage. These two teams will conclude their season series on Saturday, January 12 in Bridgeport.

The Falcons and Devils meet for the third time in the last eight days and fourth overall meeting in the season series.

---SPRINGFIELD At PROVIDENCE, NOVEMBER 28 - W - 2-1 (OT)---

November 28, 2007 - The Springfield Falcons, led by Rob Schremp's game-winner, beat the Providence Bruins 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday night at the Dunkin Donuts Center. After 40 minutes of scoreless hockey, Providence's Wacey Rabbit opened the scoring at 12:18 of the third period when he scored his first goal of the season during a four-on-four situation.

Late in the third period, the Falcons ended up on the power play and Springfield's Marc Pouliot fired a wrist shot past Providence goaltender Mike Brown tying the score at 17:37 of the final frame on the man advantage.

In the second period, each team continued to have power play opportunities, but this night for the most part belonged to the penalty killers and goaltenders. Falcons goaltender Jeff Deslauriers stopped 28 of 29 shots on the night while Brown stopped 27 of 29 in three-plus periods.

Midway through the second period, the game became spirited when Springfield's Ben Simon was clipped with an elbow from Providence's Brett Skinner, with Falcons left wing Troy Bodie quickly sticking up for his teammate and dropping the gloves with Skinner.

Simon had the game's best scoring chance early on with a shorthanded breakaway midway through the first period, but Brown made the save.

---SPRINGFIELD At LOWELL, NOVEMBER 30 - W- 4-1---

November 30, 2007 - The Springfield Falcons beat the Lowell Devils 4-1 on Friday night at the Paul Tsongas Arena. The Falcons used three second period goals from Liam Reddox, Marc Pouliot and Jean-Francois Jacques to take command of Friday's contest.

The Falcons started the scoring early in the middle frame when Reddox added his second marker of the game at 3:19 of the second period giving Springfield a 2-1 lead. The Falcons extended their advantage to 3-1 when Pouliot scored his fifth goal of the year at 6:06 of the middle period. Springfield took a 4-1 lead at 18:43 of the second period when Jacques tallied on the man advantage.

Deslauriers was the game's third star stopping 35 of 36 shots on goal for the night and held down the fort in the third period.

Reddox opened the scoring for the Falcons just three minutes into the first period on the power play. Lowell's Olli Malmivaara evened the score at 1-1 when he tallied his first of the year at 11:21 of the first period.

---SPRINGFIELD At HARTFORD, DECEMBER 1 - L - 6-2---

December 1, 2007 - The Springfield Falcons lost to the Hartford Wolf Pack 6-2 on Saturday night at the Hartford Civic Center. Hartford used six unanswered goals, including four markers in a span of 6:18 in the third period to earn the victory over the Falcons.

Tied 2-2 entering the third period, Hartford came out fast and furious in the final frame as Alex Bourret gave the Pack a 3-2 lead at 5:24. Lauri Korpikoski extended Hartford's lead to 4-2 at 7:09 of the third period, followed by a pair of markers by Nigel Dawes giving Dawes a hat trick and extending Hartford's winning streak to four straight games.

After playing six games over the last nine days, the Falcons will now have an off-day on Sunday before getting back to practice on Monday.

The Falcons built a 2-0 lead early in the second period when Jean-Francois Jacques scored on the power play at 8:06 of the middle frame. Hartford responded with a power play goal of their own at 11:59 of the second period by Pierre Parenteau cutting the Pack deficit to 2-1. The Wolf Pack evened the score at 2-2 with just eight seconds remaining in the second period when Dawes converted on a two-on-one situation.

The Falcons opened the scoring in the first period when Simon tallied at 8:49 of the opening frame giving Springfield a 1-0 lead.

PLAYER NOTES:

Springfield Falcons rookie Liam Reddox has points in four straight games collecting two goals and five assists for seven points in that span. Reddox was the game's first star on Friday, November 30 at Lowell leading Springfield to a 4-1 win with two goals and one assist. Reddox is currently seventh in the AHL in rookie scoring with six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in 21 games.

Jean-Francois Jacques has collected two goals and three assists for five points in his last two games, including one goal and three assists in Springfield's 4-1 win at Lowell on Friday, November 30

Left wing Rob Schremp has recorded a point in eight straight games collecting two goals and 10 assists for 12 points in that span. Schremp had a stretch of four-straight two-assist games from November 17-23.

Goaltender Jeff Deslauriers is tied with Wilkes-Barre's Ty Conklin for the league lead in wins with 11. Deslauriers appeared in 10 of Springfield's 13 games in November posting a record of 7-2-1 with a 2.13 goals against average and .934 save percentage. Deslauriers helped guide Springfield to a record of 7-4-1-1 for the month of November and it was Deslauriers who was the winning goaltender for all seven Springfield wins in November.

November 29, 2007 - Springfield Falcons reassign left wing Stephane Goulet to the Stockton Thunder.

December 1, 2007 - Edmonton Oilers recall center Patrick Thoresen from the Springfield Falcons.

ON THE FARM - STOCKTON THUNDER

The Thunder fought again from down two goals but Utah put a different end to a comeback attempt, as goaltender Nathan Lawson stopped 28 shots for his 2nd shutout of his career in a 4-0 Thunder loss to the Utah Grizzlies at The E-Center on Saturday, December 1. Geoff Paukovich finished what Tim Boron started - the Thunder battled from a 2-goal deficit in the 3rd period for the second straight night to get a point in the standings. Utah's clutch goaltending by Michael Mole was enough though for a 3-2 Thunder shootout loss to the Utah Grizzlies on Friday, November 30 at The E-Center.
